Faux Punk

Faux Punk This past Friday, I attended an event at a swank club on the coast of Brooklyn that was paying tribute to the best French electronic duo on the globe, Daft Punk. The cause for celebration? The CD release of Daft Punk's new album 'Alive 2007'. The chosen celebrators? Any willing fan, freak, or funky individual and the masters of the ceremony, Faux Punk. Faux Punk, the self dubbed best/worst/only Daft punk cover band, was in house and in constume, spinning some of the duo's greatest hits with their own undeniable style. You certainly had to hand it to Faux Punk, their costumes were extraordinary and their performance noteworthy. The host, was Studio B, a pretty popular affair with the gentry from the area who want to here some good, loud, bass laden beats that they can shake their asses too. The club is in a slightyl obscure area that can be accessed by an eerie walk through a factory district from the Bedford stop on the L train. The most notable and perhaps alluring fact are the affordable drinks. No top shelf alcohol will be served unless specified so as to insure that your vodka and Redbull is a Georgi and Redbull and that it will cost you a mere 6 dollars. Shocking to some but to me that is innovative. The thought of paying $28 for 2 beers and a shot makes my wallet cringe. In summation,l the party was happening, to say the least, and before I forget, DJ Bruno who got the crowd warmed up for Faux Punk certainly deserves honorbale mention. It was an excellent reason to celebrate and to say the least it was excellently celebrated.
