Jackie THE JOKE MAN Martling was a longtime fixture of radio's Howard Stern Show, and was born and raised on Long Island. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1971, and initially pursued a career in rock & roll with his college band The Pillowcayse.
Martling was always famed among his friends...and everyone he ever encountered...for his seemingly inexhaustible supply of dirty jokes, and upon returning to Long Island in 1973, he and a pal he had met in kindergarten formed a duo, The Off Hour Rockers, that played original music, told jokes, and did comic routines.
For a hoot, Jackie tested his jokes on open-mike night at Catch a Rising Star. After the duo disbanded in 1978, Jackie began telling even more jokes in his solo musical act, and after meeting a few local comedians, he soon started producing comedy shows in small clubs all over Long Island and in New Jersey. In 1979, he released his self-produced debut LP, What Did You Expect? on Off Hour Rockers Records. While touring as a national headliner, Martling released two more albums, Goin Ape! and Normal People Are People You Don't Know That Well, and three years after sending the records to Howard Stern upon Howards arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City in 1982, became a full-time cast member and head writer of Stern's show.
Jackie left the show in 2001 after fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He's released five dirty joke CDs, two videos, and is currently being seen in the red-hot comedy documentary,The Aristocrats, and over a dozen other independent films, had written the joke page for Penthouse magazine for seventeen years, and has a line of electronic joke gadgets he created with Excalibur Electronics in stores internationally.
He still headlines around the country, performing his solo act of rapid-fire filthy jokes and the classic finale, Stump The Joke Man. Tickets $35 / $30 / $25

The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) is proud to continue our support of local musicians and songwriters by presenting Miles To Dayton in concert on our main stage on Friday, April 18th, 2008 at 8:00 pm, with special guests Michael Korb and The Sun Gets Down. .
Since releasing their first album, A Long Way Back, in 2005, Miles to Dayton has been gaining recognition on the Long Island music scene for their thoughtful songwriting and outstanding musicianship. Their heartfelt message crosses many boundaries with a loyal audience that crosses several generations. The Miles to Dayton sound ranges from solo acoustic songs to rocking jams, with a distinctive vocal approach, including lead Vocalist Krista March, her brother, bassist David March and guitarist/cellist Jon Preddice. The three share the lead vocal delivery and also join in outstanding vocal harmonies, while talented sister Leanne Preddice threads her virtuoso violin texture throughout each song and percussionist Robert Caniglia provides the solid backbone for this five- piece ensemble that has gained a strong local and regional following.
After the successful release of their sophomore album, Rise, in 2007, Miles to Dayton is back on the main stage of the PTPA for what promises to be their most memorable performance to date. The show will also feature acoustic performances from two of Long Island’s up and coming artists, Michael Korb and The Sun Gets Down.

Three great Long Island singer-songwriters, alone and together - each celebrating the release of a new album in a special Live in the Lobby performance. Rorie Kelly writes songs, breaks strings, screams, sings pretty, and then screams some more. She will, in short, rock your socks, which is what she did the past two times she performed in the Lobby. She celebrates the release of her new album, Wish Upon a Bottlecap with this performance at Live In the Lobby. In 2004, John Flor Sisante released his first album The Music of Things, and Rafer Guzman of Newsday called it a collection of 10 terrific tracks...throughout the disc, he puts his stamp on each song in surprising, delightful ways. In October 2007, Guzman said, Sisante recently posted three new tracks to his MySpace page, and they're terrific. This time around, Sisante is really stretching his creative boundaries. John-Flor's next album will be released this summer and he will preview many of the songs with this performance Live in the Lobby Singer-Songwriter Jay Scott was described by Jennett Meriden Russell of The Southampton press as... a rich voice of gritty satin makes his music instantly compelling. Although born and raised on Long Island, his deep, raspy tone is pure Delta blues in origin, and is as intoxicating as southern whiskey.... After writing and polishing his songs through regular live performances in the New York area and beyond, Scott has returned to his home town of Patchogue, gotten married, bought a house, had a baby, and recorded his first Album, Homegrown which he will celebrate with this performance, Live In the Lobby. Plus the Songwriter's Spotlight with short sets by Aaron Palmadessa, Corey Balsamo, and more. Live in the Lobby is a series of concerts for small audiences held in the lobby of the historic Patchogue Theatre, usually on the first Thursday of every month. These concerts feature artists from the Long Island area playing a wide variety of mostly original music in an intimate and comfortable setting. All ages are welcome.
